2022 Greenfield Soapbox VOLUNTEER Application

The Greenfield Soapbox Race cannot happen without you, the volunteers!

ALL volunteers will receive a free derby t-shirt!

Race day is Saturday, May 7th, at the Recreation Park on Nash's Mill Road in Greenfield, MA. The event time runs from noon till approximately 3:00, but of course there is much to set up and then clean up, too.

Volunteers are expected to show up on time and enthusiastically fulfill their role.

Volunteer tasks include (1) helping set-up in the morning, and/or (2) helping during the race and helping with cleanup.

If you have special skills or limitations, please let us know in the open comments section. We will be reaching out to confirm finer details and provide instructions as the race gets closer.

Morning / Setup Tasks (7:00 - 11:00):

Includes laying out straw bales; erecting the snow fencing along the track for attendee protection; helping set up the ramps; helping set up the advertising lawn signs; helping with parking; checking in the racers; inspecting the racer carts; helping get them to the display area for attendees; helping get them up the hill, and other tasks.

Afternoon / Race Tasks (11:00 - 3:00-ish):

Includes helping with parking; helping wrangle carts to the starting line; helping get them up on the starting ramps (adult racers only); helping time the racers; helping wrangle carts to the staging area to be brought back up the hill; helping with crowd control, and other tasks.

After Race/ Clean-up  (3:00-ish-4:30):

Help to break down stations, put things away, load up hay and clean raceway.
